"SEATS"

NOW THAT YOU'VE PURCHASED A SEAT,

HOW DO YA MOUNT IT?

IF YOU ARE BOUND AND DETERMINED TO USE THAT FIBERGLASS SEAT PREPARE TO DO A BUNCH OF WORK. YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO CONSTRUCT A FRAME FOR IT TO MOUNT TO. YOU SHOULD BE MAKING IT OUT OF SOMETHING IN THE RANGE OF A 1.25 OD TUBING WITH A .125 WALL. STEEL PLATE SHOULD BE MOUNTED TO BOTH THE SEAT AND THE BACK AREAS. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF WORK FOR A SEAT THAT'S LOW END PROTECTION.

TECHNICALLY YOU SHOULD MOUNT AN ALUMINUM SEAT TO A FRAME THAT IS WELDED TO THE LEFT DOOR BARS AND THE MAIN HOOP OF THE CAGE BUT THAT'S NOT ALWAYS THE WAY YOU CAN GO, ALSO THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF AN ALUMINUM SEAT IS ACTUAL INCREDIBLE. WE MOUNT OR SEATS, WHICH ARE BOTH ALUMINUM, TO FRAME CROSS MEMBERS. IF YOU ARE HIT HARD THE CROSS MEMBERS WILL MOVE AND KEEP YOU MOVING AWAY FROM THE IMPACT.

SO WHAT SHOULD YOU TIE THE SEAT DOWN WITH. WE USUALLY USE 1/2 CARRIAGE BOLTS. BELIEVE ME USE THE CARRIAGE BOLTS, YOUR REAR WILL THANK YOU EVERYTIME YOU RACE!!! ALSO USE SOME LARGE WASHERS TO SPREAD THE LOAD OUT. HOW MANY BOLTS YOU USE IS UP TO YOU. MOST BUILDERS SAY 4-6. WE USE 2 IN THE SEAT AREA AND 1 IN THE BACK. YOU USE WHAT YA WANT BUT WE'VE CRASHED, AND CRASHED, AND CRASHED CARS IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROB.
